Wyoming Historic Hotels

Upon deciding to take advantage of the many delights of Wyoming tourism, it is sure to be difficult to narrow down a list of places to visit.  After all, there is Yellowstone National Park, the Thermopolis Hot Springs region, white water adventures, rodeos and so much more.  But after a day spent sightseeing, you want a place to kick back and relax.  And, what could be better than a room (or suite) at one of Wyoming’s historic hotels.

Some of these hotels date back to early 1900’s and have been preserved and maintained while combining Old World elegance with modern convenience.  If you are planning to visit near one of the following historic hotels, why not spend a night (or more) while there?

  1. Old Faithful Inn (Y.N.P) – Conveniently located near Yellowstone,  this hotel is one of the most visited sites on Wyoming.  It is just a short distance from its namesake geyser.
  2. The Accidental Hotel (Buffalo) – Do you wish to experience the Wild West of Buffalo Bill Cody, Calamity Jane of Butch Cassidy.  If so, spend some time here where these American legends once slept.
  3. Plains Hotel (Cheyenne) – Built in the early 1900’s this hotel was the place of choice for many leaders of Americas Golden Age of industry.
  4. The Irma Hotel (Cody) – Built by Buffalo Bill Cody, this hotel is touted as “A Living Museum Of The Old West”
  5. The Virginian Hotel (Medicine Bows) – Built in the early 1900’s and named for Owen Wister’s 1902 novel, the 100 year old hotel is a favorite gathering spot.

Other historic Wyoming hotels include Saratoga’s Wolf Hotel, Jackson Hole’s Wort Hotel and Glenrock’s Hotel Higgins.  So, when visiting Wyoming, be sure you get the opportunity to stay at (or at least visit) one of these beautiful hotels.  It’s worth it.
