This quiet coastal Georgia town is located near the northeast corner of Florida and the Okefenokee Swamp, and is the main access point of the Cumberland Island Wilderness area.
Crooked River State Park - For hiking swimming, water sports, boating and hiking, spend some time here. There is a picnic area as well as camping and rental cottage available.
Cumberland Island Seashore Museum -Showcasing artifacts from Native Americans, African Americans, and the Carnegie family, this museum is a great place to learn about the area’s history.
Orange Hall House Museum - a 3 story Greek revival home with numerous historic pieces on display.
St. Mary’s Aquatic Center - Get wet-n-wild as you splash around here. There is a lazy river, a twister slide, and water fun of all sorts.
St. Marys Submarine Museum - home of America’s most impressive displayed periscope; take some time to learn about the many submarines displayed here.
Additional sites in St. Marys are the George Bancroft SSBN-643, Sail Exhibit, the McIntosh Sugar Mill Tabby Ruins, and the Cumberland Island Ferry ride which goes past the remains of the Little Cumberland Island Lighthouse. On Cumberland Island you can see the wild horse roam free.
