The Best of Georgia Tourism

Hello, my name is Scott and this is my site built around my personal experiences and trips in my home state of Georgia. I’ve been all over the U.S. and every state has thrilled me in different ways, but Georgia is where my heart is and the state I know best. That’s why I’m proud to invite you personally to come visit us and see what all the fuss is about.

During the last couple of decades the Peach State has grown by leaps and bounds. I could offer you some stats on population and economic growth, but that’s not what this section is about. This area of the site is here to show you why you need to come on down and visit. But I will say that there’s something behind all this growth and when you visit you’ll find out why.

Georgia has great weather making travel year round possible. Occasionally we do get a big ice or snow storm, but those are so rare they make national news. Most of the time our weather is perfect for a vacation. You won’t be doing much snow skiing here, but you can bet there are plenty of opportunities to wear shorts and get a tan. In fact, if lying on the beach is your thing check out Tybee Island. This little beach island is a few miles from Savannah and offers some great hotels on the beach. That way you can fall asleep to the sound of waves at night, visit the historic sites of Savannah during the day, eat at one of Savannah’s amazing restaurants, and then return to the beach for some relaxation in the afternoon. You can easily spend a week exploring Coastal Georgia destinations like St. Simons Island and Cumberland Island, and I hope you do.

If you head north you’ll find the ancient hills. The North Georgia Mountains are a bit cooler during the summer months and downright perfect in the fall and spring when hikers connect with a little bit of Heaven on the trail. The famous Appalachian Trail starts here and goes for a couple thousand miles to Maine. I’ve hiked most of the Georgia section and if you’re a hiker I can promise a challenging and fun hike.

I’ve included a few fun places to visit in the sidebar on the left, but please don’t limit yourself to just the big attractions because Georgia is best discovered on the back roads in little towns like Sparta and in eclectic places like Athens. Atlanta is a world class city but if you want to truly experience the South be sure to get off the highway and see where your car takes you.
