Albany Georgia

Albany sits on what was at one time Creek Indian land. Now the surrounding area is home to over 125,000 people making it one of the largest cities in the region. Albany is known today for some of the best pecans in the world. If you visit make sure to stop by one of the many stores and buy a pecan log or a big bag of this Southern nut. Even though Albany is known for pecans most people in the region don't work in agriculture but are employed by the local Marine Corps Logistics Base, the healthcare industry, in transportation, and retail.

As with any great Southern town there are great Southern restaurants like Carter's Grill where you can get excellent soul food and Maryland Fried Chicken where they have taken building art to a new level. Most of Albany's best restaurants are casual enough for blue jeans and t-shirts but are nice enough for a suit and tie.
